About

Welcome to Grandma Myrts Recipe and Memory Collection.

Grandma Myrt was an extraordinary lady, with many talents that were shared daily.  She loved life, her family, husband and friends.  She was a delight to be around, always keeping us smiling, laughing, and feeling loved.

She was an incredible seamstress, cook and candy maker.  She spoiled everyone at Christmas, birthdays, and any occasions that we were together.

Her life was taken instantly in an accident at our favorite vacationing spot, Flaming Gorge, Utah.  She and her husband and family have been vacationing in Flaming Gorge for over 40 years.  This tradition has continued even despite the sadness that we all went through at her passing.  Each year we return to Flaming Gorge, we are reminded of her laughter, her smile, and the fun times we all shared.  These are treasured times that she would not want us to miss out on.  We miss her dearly.

At the time of her passing, I took a great interest in preserving her recipes, in order to share them with all those that were dear to here.  I had no idea what a project this would be.  Because of her love for cooking, she has thousands of recipes.  Like all of us who love to cook, we collect recipes; some are tried and true, and some are ones that we clip and save wanting to try out.

In the last 15 years, her daughters, Gladene, Suzy, and several of the granddaughters have gotten together on several occasions to try to work on putting together a cook book of these recipes.  At the beginning, we all worked on typing in each recipe.  Then we started photo copying recipes to help speed up the process, and thought it would be interesting to see her handwriting, and make it feel more authentic.  Now, we have the wonderful internet that we can share these recipes, and so have decided to post these recipes online on Grandma Myrt's Blog.  This project will be ongoing, as we continue to add more recipes, photos and memories.

Please let us know if you are looking for a particular recipe.  We will look for it, and post it here.  Our apologies if we have not correctly given credit to recipes that we have posted.  They have all come from Grandma Myrts recipe collection.

A special thank you to Kristen Andersen Hopkins (a grand daughter), who has set this blog up, and has posted many, many of the recipes.  And a special thank you to any of the family that have contributed their time, or their favorite family recipes that did or would have made it to Grandma Myrts collection.

Love you all,
Marilyn Hilton
